Mission Statement

Our mission is to be a profitable and sound community bank, perceived as the best in our market area through the eyes of our customers, community, employees, and shareholders.

Farmers and Merchants Bank was founded in 1914, in LaOtto, Indiana, as a private community banking institution. The Bank continues to be a dynamic, progressive financial institution, offering a broad range of low-cost, quality products and services to our retail, commercial, and municipal customers. We distinguish ourselves from our competition by our commitment to excellence in evaluating, identifying, and modifying our products and services to meet our customers' ever-changing financial needs.

Our objective is to maintain a high level of asset quality and management integrity. We continue to show evidence of our corporate responsibility through leadership, support, and involvement in the communities we serve. We provide a pleasant working environment, both personally and professionally rewarding, that enables us to attract and retain high-quality personnel throughout the Bank.

We intend to maintain a level of profitability that enables us to meet these objectives while providing shareholders with an above-average rate of return through a combination of annual dividends and stock appreciation. In summary, we intend to protect the interests of our shareholders and customers through sound and prudent management and integrity in all our business affairs.
